Designing with Perlast® materials

Squeeze

Long term compression set testing performed by Perlast on O-rings repeatedly heated and cooled whilst installed has identified the optimal initial squeeze conditions shown opposite.

Thermal Expansion

The coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) is the change in volume per unit of material for a one degree Centigrade change in temperature. CTE must be considered when calculating gland fill in fully constrained grooves. It is important to ensure that gland volume fill remains below 100%.

The above tests were performed over a range of 15°C to 200°C.

Permeability

Perlast's wholly organic materials are far more compliant than traditional elastomer materials. This leads to more effective sealing against mating surfaces and reduced leakage.
